PORCELAIN WAVES | Mette Maya
22-23-24-25 September 2022
The workshop explores the use of organic shaped structures in ceramics inspired by nature and architecture.
During the workshop delicate structures will be made using bamboo curtains and string.
Afterwards several layers of soft paperclay will then be applied on the bamboo structure to create textured porcelain waves.
The bamboo will burn during firing, making possible many creative possibilities through the addition, combination and modification of shapes.
These bamboo structures will also be the basis for making plaster moulds to explore movement in clay.
Finally, a selection of the works produced will be glazed with engobes and oxides that will allow for very interesting colour effects in the final firing.
