The Contest | “Crystalline glaze, the charm of the crystals”

The Faenza Art Ceramic Center announces the third edition of the “Ceramic&Colours Award”, a competition aimed at promoting and enhancing research into glazes for finishing ceramic products.

For 2020 edition the “Crystalline glaze” effect has been selected.

The Ceramic Technique

It is a kind of finishing of ceramic glass surfaces that can be developed both at high and low temperature, whose main characteristic is the formation of macro crystals that can be easily seen with naked eyes. All matt or satin surfaces, that in many cases can turn out because of a devitrification of the glazes during the cooling process, are therefore excluded from the competition. We would like to highlight that because of the technical nature of the competition, the technical committee will mainly take into account the artworks that will better develop the potential of this theme and its complexity.

Participation

The Award is open to everybody, with no restrictions concerning age, gender, nationality or else. Each competitor may present only one work.

Procedures and deadlines for application

The participation to the Competition is free. The deadline for applying for the award was 30/09/2020.

    Gift voucher to be spent at Ceramic & Colours, value of 1000 €
  • Nr. nr. 3 Special Mentions
    Gift voucher for the participation to one of the courses organized by the Faenza Art Ceramic Center

The first placed work will become property of the Faenza Art Ceramic Center

Publication

The participants in the Ceramic&Colours Award competition authorise, free of charge, without time limits, also pursuant to articles 10 and 320 of the Civil Code and articles 96 and 97 of the Law 22.4.1941, no. 633, Law on copyright, to the live transmission, publication and/or diffusion in any form of their images, of the images of their works and of any image taken during the inauguration of the competition: “Ceramic&Colours Award” on the internet sites, on social channels (Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Twitter) on printed paper and/or on any other means of diffusion of the Faenza Art CeramicCenter, recognised cultural association with headquarters in via pana 34/1 – Faenza – Italy. The participants also authorise the storage of the photos and videos in the association’s computer archives and acknowledge that the purpose of these publications is informative and popular.

Artists are invited to register and to periodically consult the website www.facc-art.it in order to be informed of all updates and any changes made to this call for applications.

The works of the selected competitors were exposed in the Salone delle Bandiere of the municipality of Faenza. from 24 August to 04 September 2022.

The prize-giving ceremony took place during the international market-fair Argillà italia 2022 on 3rd September 2022 at 18.00 in the Salone delle Bandiere of the municipality of Faenza.
