CREATIVE MOLDING TECHNIQUE | Simon Zsolt József
27-28-29-30 June 2025
The aim of the course is to understand the opportunities to model the forms inherent in molding errors. We will learn how to prepare a multi-part plaster molding form, which allows us to model the internal and external shapes of the final object.
The artist will make a presentation of his works, which will allow to observe and understand this special molding procedure. The second half of the screening will demonstrate the creation of a specific object from the beginning to the final stage.
Participants will start working on one of Zsolt's floral objects, through an individual consultation, and later, they will create a different shape, allowing learning from each other's work. From the preparation of the plaster, the finishing, sawing, sanding and assembly of the plaster form will follow until the porcelain casting.
Simon Zsolt József Simon Zsolt József studied at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Budapest. He is an all-round artist, interested in ceramics, painting, theater and music. The study of movement is the basis of his work. His particular research is concentrated in the process through the molds or modules that give birth to a particular shape, not the programmed one. It uses porcelain for its quality of fragility which grants a sense of lightness, movement and refinement.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY | Sara Dario
04-05-06-07 October 2024
In this basic course, participants will take a first approach to screen printing and its use. They will have the opportunity to print on porcelain with screen printing frames engraved with their own pre-selected images. The work will be plate-based and they will be able to create: a first two-dimensional work and one or more works of their own imagination. Students will be supervised from the first prints on porcelain to the design and realisation of a personal work. The lessons are entirely practical in addition to a theoretical chapter, firings and materials and a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) session.
Sara Dario He graduated from Venice Art School and graduated in Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara. During his academic studies, he became interested in photography and printing techniques, not only traditional ones such as black and white and colour, but above all unconventional ones such as photogravure and photo serigraphy, printing on various materials and supports. His aesthetic quest is to combine sculpture and photography and thus give his images a body.

LOW-TEMPERATURE GLAZES, CHEMISTRY AND FORMULATIONS | Claudio Gardenghi
21-22-23-24-25 May 2025
In this particular course, you will learn how to formulate or modify the aesthetics of lowtemperature glazes. Low-temperature ceramic objects often need a "cover". which is called a glaze, required to make the ceramic object water-resistant and aesthetically conform to what is desired. What is needed to make a glaze? What frits and raw materials to combine to make it? How to modify a ready-made glaze? And how to proceed from test to test to achieve the desired effect? The teacher Claudio Gardenghi, an expert with over forty years of experience in some of the most important ceramic colour factories, will introduce participants to the world of lowtemperature glazes, also giving space for some personal research. In fact, thanks to the small number of participants, it will be possible both to work on bases provided by the organisation and to analyse, replicate or correct glazes deriving from participants' own research ("as long as they are suitable for low temperature"). All results will then be presented and shared with the class.
Claudio Gardenghi Graduated in Technological Education at the Art Institute for Ceramics 'G. Ballardini' in Faenza. During his working activity, he has developed collaborations with several Ceramic Colour Factories, including Colorobbia and Cover, as well as important ceramic industries such as Cooperativa Ceramica di Imola, La Faenza and Cerdomus. Over the years, he has been able to expand his experience in countless consulting assignments in different countries around the world )Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, China, South Africa and Iran.
The 32-hour workshop lasts from 9.00 to 17.00 on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and from 9.00 to 13.00 on Sunday.

CUSTOMISED MOLDS FOR CERAMICS | Marco Malavolti
07-08-09-10-11 May 2025
Reproducing a shape for large or small productions, but also creating unique objects from a casting or pressure mould, simplifying the working processes; this is the dream of many ceramists. The trainer Marco Malavolti will present an effective, simple and creative programme for the creation of multi-part casting and pressure moulds. The course will start with an idea and a personal project and will then develop a model which will be analysed before making your own mould. The course is aimed at a group of a maximum of 4 people and this will give participants the opportunity to develop many of their own personal designs, even large ones.
Marco Malavolti After graduating at Ballardini in Faenza, he started working in 1997 as a craftsman and immediately started collaborating with the International Museum of Ceramics, producing several works. At the same time, he also collaborated with Elena Agnini in Munich where he specialised in restoration. Also in 1997, he began teaching at the "T. Minardi" School where he held courses in basic and advanced ceramics. Over the next five years he specialised in moulding, becoming a reference point in Italy on this subject. In 2002, he opened Manifatture Sottosasso, structuring various activities: his own production linked to the world of design, collaborations with artists and galleries (the most important include: Garutti Alberto, Siedlecki Namsal, Previti Riccardo, Simeti Francesco, Ornaghi e Prestinari, Galleria Minini, Galleria Zero, Galleria Continua, Fondazione Officine Saffi, Galleria Nilufar). Also, production for companies and collaborations with museums where he mainly works on moulding (among the most important museums are: Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche in Faenza, Museo di San Domenico and Museo Gypsotheca Antonio Canova and Museo Carlo Zauli).
